Boron Chamber of Commerce NewsChamber Elects/Re-Elects Three New DirectorsThe Boron Chamber of Commerce held its annual election of directors on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Saxon Aerospace Museum. Three seats on the Board of Directors were filled by a vote of the general membership in attendance. Re-elected to their existing seats on the board that night were Barbara Pratt and Tammy Brown. Installation and State of the Community Dinner AnnouncedThe Boron Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Installation of Officers / State of the Community dinner on Monday June 23, 2008. The purpose of the dinner is twofold and will feature the swearing in of the newly elected officers, as well as, an evening of guest speakers from around the Boron / East Kern area speaking on the state of the community and the surrounding areas. The Boron Bible Church has generously offered the use of their kitchen and dining facilities at no charge to the Chamber. The dinner will be catered by K & L Corral and the menu will feature Tri-Tip, baked potatos, vegatables, salad, garlic bread and dessert. The reception begins at 5:30 pm and dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. The cost of the dinner will be $.20.00 for singles and $30 for couples. The public is invited and tickets are available at the Twenty Mule Team Musueum.51st Annual 20 Mule Team Days Committee MeetingsThe Boron 20 Mule Team Days planning commitee is meeting at 6:00 pm on the second Monday of the month in the banquet room of the K & L Corral resturant. This year's event marks the 51st anniversary of the 20 Mule Team Days tradition. The two-day event is scheduled for the first weekend in October and will feature live music, food booths, arts and crafts, a motorcylce and car show and much more. All members of the community are invited to attend the meeting and assist in the planning of this landmark anniversay for the community of Boron. Twenty Mule Team Days Theme ContestThe 51st Annual Twenty Mule Team Days celebration is rapidly approaching and the Twenty Mule Team Days committee is sponsoring a theme contest for this year's event. Members of the community are encouraged to submit thier entries for the contest by downloading the form off of the web site and submitting it in person at the Twenty Mule Team Museum. All entry forms must be received no later than 4:00 pm on July 11, 2008. The winner of this year's contest will receive a $50.00 prize Click Here to download the theme contest form. Help Us Write HistoryThe Boron Chamber of Commerce is working with Arcadia Press in an effort to write a book about the history of our town. We are currently gathering materials for the book and are asking the community to help by submitting interesting stories and photos from Boron's unique and wonderful history. Materials may be submitted in person to Barbara Pratt at the Twenty Twenty Mule Team Museum. The utmost care will be given to your photographs and all materials will be returned to their rightful owners after the book is submitted to the publisher. Call 760-762-5810 for more information. Docents Needed for Boron MuseumsThe Boron Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for docents to work at the Twenty Mule Team and Colonel Vernon P. Saxon Aerospace Museums. Docent's duties include hosting guests and visitors, cleaning and maintaining museum exhibits, answering phones, guiding tours, and gift shop sales. These volunteer positions are unpaid and require a two to three week training period with the respective directors of the museums.
